Bombay High Court to Hear Actor Imran Khan’s Plea Against ‘Leave India’ Order on October 26

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has scheduled a hearing for October 26 on a petition filed by Bollywood actor Imran Khan. The petition challenges a directive issued by the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) ordering the US national and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholder to leave the country by October 28.

The Bombay High Court has scheduled a hearing for October 26 on a petition filed by actor and U.S. citizen Imran Khan, who is challenging an FRRO directive ordering him to leave India by October 28 following his brief detention near an October 10 political protest in Mumbai. Represented by senior counsel Venkatesh Dhond, Khan’s legal team argued that the notice is arbitrary and violates natural justice, emphasizing that the actor has lived in India since early childhood, has no criminal antecedents, and was detained before participating in the demonstration. While Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh agreed to the October 26 date on behalf of the Centre, the defense noted it leaves a narrow window before the deportation deadline, and the High Court has instructed the petitioner to add the State of Maharashtra as a respondent to verify his criminal records.
